This show was small and they had a lot of news to show. Many of the trailers were short and didn’t have the time to dwell deeper into the games like either Square Enix or us, the players, would have wanted. They do start with Shadow of the Tomb Raider being the first game shown. However, the anticipated Final Fantasy VII was completely absent. Square Enix still has great games coming, many of which are JRPGs. New adventures to explore while we wait for Final Fantasy VII. So there isn’t too much to be upset about.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
A brand new trailer of Shadow of the Tomb Raider shows crash landing. Then we are shown some gameplay. And let me tell you. It looks incredible! The things you’ll be able to do in the jungles of Central America is like what Rambo would be doing. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara sets off to stop a Mayan apocalypse. The release date is September 14th and it will be available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Final Fantasy XIV News
First off, they show off a trailer for Stormblood and the Under The Moonlight patch.
Final Fantasy XIV Online X Monster Hunter World
Rathalos is coming to Final Fantasy XIV, as well as Monster Hunter drinks and Palicos. Does that mean that Monster Hunter World will get Bahamut?
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit
More information about The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. They are planning to continue the story. Check out what they have to say. It will be free on June 26th!
Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age
They did release a trailer for Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age. These games are largely popular. Comes out September 4th, 2018. Available for PS4 and PC.
Babylon’s Fall
A game by Platinum Games. We can expect over-the-top action because it seems like that’s something Platinum Games excels at. Coming for PS4 and PC in 2019.
Nier: Automata Become as Gods Edition
Same trailer as in the Microsoft Press Conference. It’s great to see this come to Xbox players so more people get a chance to play this masterpiece. Comes out June 26th. It will contain all previous DLC content.
Octopath Traveler
Looks like a small JRPG game. It mixes Pixel art and more modern art. Here’s the trailer they show. Comes out July 13th, 2018 for the Nintendo Switch.
Just Cause 4
We get more information about Just Cause 4. It takes place in a Fictional country in South America. With the new physics mechanics, weather will be massively destructive and can even be used to the player’s advantage rather than just another obstacle. Vehicles are improved and so is the combat, now with smarter and deadlier enemies. Just Cause 4 promises a unique open world sandbox experience. Comes out December 4th, 2018 and will be available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. I’m noticing a trend in which many of the bigger titles are leaving the Nintendo Switch out.
The Quiet Hitman
It seems like they feature a deaf protagonist because of the gestures the character makes in the trailer. We get a small fight and we can expect to get more information coming this August. In the trailer we are shown PS4 and Steam.
Kingdom Hearts III
The trailer is very similar to the one shown at the Microsoft/Xbox Press Conference. It’s got a few changes. Other than that, release date is still the same. It will release for Xbox One and PS4 on January 29th, 2019.
Wrap-Up
They had a small time to show a lot of trailers. This may explain why most of the trailers shown were very small. We did get to see a bit more from Shadow of the Tom Raider and Just Cause 4. They have exciting new updates and games coming up, and they didn’t present them with the showmanship that many of the games deserved. It can be put to blame on the short time that was given to them. Still, objectively speaking, the games look fantastic and it’s nice they aren’t leaving the Nintendo Switch out, completely.
