“Matrix Resurrections” first trailer

The first trailer for the latest entry in the „Matrix” franchise, titled „Matrix Resurrections”, has finally been released. You can watch it below.

As a big fan of the Wachowski sisters, I am really excited about the film. This time, Lana Wachowski is directing alone, without her sister, Lily. She is, however, collaborating with people who helped her make one of the best films and series in her career.

The screenplay was co-written by a Bosnian writer, Aleksandar Hemon, who contributed to the finale of “Sense8”, and David Mitchell, whose novel “The Cloud Atlas” was adapted by the Wachowskis and who also co-written the finale of “Sense8”. What’s more, the music was composed by Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer. The Wachowskis work with them since “The Cloud Atlas” (which Tykwer also co-directed) and they are one of the industry’s most talented composers.

The cast is also tremendously interesting. Not only do the likes of Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith and Lambert Wilson return, but they are joined by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci and “Sense8’s” Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith and Eréndira Ibarra.

The trailer itself suggest the new “Matrix” will revisit some of the previous films’ themes and motives, but I am certain that Lana has an amazing idea for the production and will create something fresh and unique. After all, the “Matrix” films — even if some think that their quality went down with each sequel — have changed the action films forever. And the history will repeat, I am sure.

And on personal note: I would really like to come back to the original trilogy and see how I will perceive it today.
