And for those of you who may wonder what Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is all about, here’s a quick summary. It will be a two-part stage play written by Jack Thorne and based on a story by Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling, Thorne and director John Tiffany. Set nineteen years after the ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the story will follow the now adult Harry Potter and his youngest son, Albus Severus. Here’s the official synopsis:
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
You can’t deny that it sounds intriguing. The play will open on 30 July 2016 at the Palace Theatre, London, England. But those of you who won’t be able to see it – don’t worry, there will be a book edition of the play’s script released on 31 July 2016.
